How to become your own in a new team

Interviews and tests are behind us, and your dream job is already waiting for you. However, on the eve of the first working day, nervousness mixes with pleasant impatience. How will colleagues meet? Will they be able to join the new team?

In order not to torment yourself with such questions and not to waste emotions in vain, follow the advice of Superjob.ru.

Adapt according to plan
First of all, calm down, because there is no reason to panic: in most teams, newcomers are received kindly. According to the Superjob.ru study, almost half of the companies (49%) attach great importance to the adaptation of new employees. Mentoring, introductory excursions, orientation courses and trainings, welcome letters, drawing up a trial work plan, personal conversations - everywhere there is a different methodology for meeting newly arrived team members.

Got into a hospitable company - faithfully follow the adaptation plan adopted in it. Even if the information presented at the introductory training seems to you a set of common truths, do not neglect the attention given to you and listen. Take into account the advice of a mentor (as a rule, this is one of the experienced employees of the unit), ask him questions, and the more there are, the better. Do not stick out your past achievements, it’s better to carefully look at how business processes, document management, etc. are organized.

Be careful with mentors
But even if the company does not offer introductory events (and such, according to Superjob.ru, in the Russian market 37%), you can fully adapt yourself. Remember that the excitement on the eve of the first working day is familiar to everyone, including members of the team you intend to join. Therefore, it is possible that one of the new colleagues, entering your position, will help you get comfortable. Accept such informal mentoring with thanks. According to psychologists, the best way to get a person to yourself is to ask him for a service, the provision of which will not be difficult for him. Ask about everything that is important and interesting, accept the invitation to dine together, share the first problems.

Still, be careful: is such help selfless? It happens that the “mentor” seeks to find in the novice his assistant, on whom you can shift part of his work, or an ally in office wars. Do you need it?

Listen and be silent
According to a survey conducted by the Superjob.ru Research Center, 10% of HR managers agree that the main rule of conduct for a new employee in a team is to listen and be silent. It is also important to accept the rules of the company, be friendly (7% each) and sociable (6%). Keep this in mind and remember that they don’t go to someone else’s monastery with their charter. Most likely, in the first week of work they do not expect a labor feat from you, your main goal is adaptation.

Follow the operating mode of the company, try to understand the essence of the matter faster, and also get as much information as possible about the formal and informal rules of the company. How strict is the dress code here? What time do employees come and go? Is it accepted to congratulate colleagues on their birthday? After learning about these and other company traditions and rules, follow them.

Find out who is who
From the first days of work in a new team, try to determine who is who. Take a look at whether there is an informal leader in the team. This can be either a leader or an employee who does not yet hold a high position, but is distinguished by a special character warehouse. It is easy to distinguish such a person: his opinion is interested in leadership, his colleagues listen to him. Try to establish a relationship with him - getting along with him, you will work together with everyone else.

Probably, among new colleagues you will meet another common type - gossip. This is not always a woman, because men also love to gossip behind others. You need to be careful with this person, because his disposition and desire to share interesting facts about the life of the team may suddenly end. You will not notice that you yourself have already become the object of gossip. Therefore, do not rush to share personal information with the gossip. Only tell about yourself that cannot damage your reputation.

It is possible that one of the old-timers of the collective will host you with hostility. The reasons can be different, and it is difficult to guess them. Be prepared for a forced confrontation and remember that your goal is successful work, not a general arrangement.

Avoid novels
Banal, but relevant advice: avoid office romances, especially in the new team. Loving relationships at work is a risk of spoiling relationships with colleagues and incurring the wrath of management, so leave your playful mood at home. Much more appropriate in the office will be the working spirit, politeness and willingness to conquer yet another career height.

Take the time to make friends
Trying to join the team, do not try to initially build relationships with colleagues as friendly - you did not come to work in order to make friends. And the atmosphere in the office does not always favor the building of warm and trusting relationships: in many teams the spirit of competition prevails. Be that as it may, at first your interaction will be partnership, business, but at the same time friendly. It is possible that friendship will develop by itself over time.

Post-termination plan: 6 required steps

1. Dismissal is not a tragedy, but your chance to change your life for the better Whatever the reasons for dismissal, keep calm and only calm! Yes, losing your job is a way out of your comfort zone, but then your fate is in your hands again. Consider the situation as a chance to change your life for the better, and not as a tragedy. Do not hesitate, after a while you will remember this with a smile and be glad that everything turned out that way. Remember: dismissal does not mean that you are a poor specialist - just now you are not on the way with the old company. Focus on your strengths - this will not only increase your self-esteem, but also help you realize your competitive advantages in the labor market. 2. Get some rest There is a possibility - go on a trip, no - give yourself at least a few days of respite. Go to the zoo with your child or friends, visit your parents, arrange friendly gatherings, go outdoors. And by all means tell friends and acquaintances about your fr

To write or not to write a farewell letter?

The tradition of writing a farewell letter to colleagues on the last business day came to Russia only recently. Is it worth wasting time and e-mailing words of gratitude to already former co-workers? To the last day at the old job was another step forward, listen to the recommendations. Why is this needed? To decide whether or not to write a farewell letter to colleagues, answer two questions for yourself. First, do you want to maintain business (or maybe friendship) relationships with colleagues in the future? The professional world may turn out to be rather narrow - it is quite possible that you will meet with former colleagues more than once. Having parted with colleagues on a positive note, you will be ready for new meetings and, possibly, for joint projects in the future. The second question is whether you are ready to spend time and effort and write a truly informative, rather than formal, letter? So that every reader understands you and your motives, so that everyone you
